Wellbeing in Every Decision: Planning for a Healthy and Liveable Region

The Wellbeing in Every Decision: Planning for a Healthy and Liveable Region conference is proudly presented by the Healthy Heart of Victoria initiative in partnership with Healthy GREATER Bendigo, and is a must-attend for population health professionals, statutory and strategic planners and professionals, and those with an interest in creating healthy and liveable communities through everyday decisions in regional Victoria.

Featuring expert speakers from Canterbury District Health Board (NZ), Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, RMIT’s Healthy Liveable Cities group and the Heart Foundation’s Healthy Active by Design team, the aim is to explore how statutory and strategic planning and health professionals can work collaboratively, and how to apply a wellbeing focus across a wide range of strategies and policies in a regional Victorian context.

The afternoon will host two separate streams – one for strategic and statutory planners where experts will present the latest evidence on how to achieve liveability in the built environment and outline tools and approaches to guide local policy development and decision making.  This session also includes a workshop exploring how these tools can be adapted to guide land use decisions and policies in a regional Victorian context.  The other stream is for health and wellbeing professionals where participants will gain a better understanding of the Health in all Policies concept, and obtain tools and insights into how and why we need to consider land use planning and policy to achieve population health outcomes.
