Dementia Enabling Environments for Falls Prevention

Persons with dementia are two to three times more likely to fall compared to persons without dementia. Therefore, older adults with dementia can be considered a high-risk group for falls. An understanding of risk factors for falls among this population is required so that health care professionals can develop effective falls prevention strategies to reduce the negative impact of falls on an individual’s quality of life as well as the economic burden of treating falls in their workplace/clinical setting.
